|Me and the lovely Laura Farrant from buynowbloglater|
Last night was the launch of Koton's Spring/Summer 14 collection which took place at the oober cool location, The Story, in Media City. The UAE's top media, bloggers' and socialites gathered for the unveiling of the new season pieces to get a fashion fix ahead of the crowd, on what will be in our wardrobes this Spring Summer. It was a really lovely and sociable event and I got to catch up with some of my favourite bloggers (and friends) from Dubai, which is always a bonus.
So what can we expect from Koton for the season ahead? The main trends we will be seeing are Monochrome, Riviera, Cowgirl Denim and Sports Lux collection. Monochrome is trend we see on the catwalk and in most retailers season to season and this is because black, white and colour-blocking products are really commercial (i.e. we buy a lot). I have shared some snaps below of my favourite lust-have pieces which stood out and will definitely be new additions to my wardrobe as soon as they are in-store! My favourite collection has to be Sports Lux, it has a really urban feel and since seeing Tom Fords adaption of the trend at LFW last week, it is definitely a look that us girls need to be rocking. I love the american football style jersey Ts paired with tight leather pencil skirts and a statement necklace for that street style look.
WHAT I WORE
I of course, was sporting a dress from the Koton S/S14 range, the Riviera trend. Although it was frantic rush around Koton at The Dubai Mall on Monday evening trying to find a last minute outfit, I was actually pleased with the piece I chose. I saw this dress as soon as I walked into the store and liked it, but didn't really feel like it was special enough for Press Day so I spent two hours trying on the entire shop before deciding to try it on. Although it is a very simple style, I really liked this piece as it is so wearable with its classic cut. I love midnight blue colour and the gold chain at the front is reminiscent of Gucci A/W12 and that was the decision made! During the evening a lot of the people actually thought my dress was from Reiss (as I am a Reiss advocate) which I think is such a compliment to Koton and it's new season range since their price points are a lot lower.
