EATS | BRASSERIE ANGELIQUE AT JUMEIRAH ETIHAD TOWERS

Whilst spending the weekend in Abu Dhabi escaping the hustle and bustle of Dubai I had the pleasure of dining at Brasserie Angelique, a French a la carte restaurant in Etihad Towers.  Walking through the doors you are welcomed by an extravagant, French inspired interior, which gives you a feeling that you’re about experience something pretty special.

For starters, I opted for the scallops.  They were served in a rich Crustacean sauce that consisted of tiny brown prawns and diced onion which was really flavorsome, without taking away from the flavours of the scallops.  My friend went for the Langoustine et Boudin Blanc which was a little disappointing – the taste was impeccable but the fact that you was served only one Langoustine left you hungry for your main course.

Since I had seafood for starts it was time for rich red meat for mains, I ordered the Duck Breast and a side portion of salted spinach. The Duck was amazing, a thin layer of crispy fat was naught but nice and was thin enough for you to justify the extra calories in your head.  The root vegetables that accompanied the dish were tasty and plentiful and the morel mushrooms add a very ‘woody’ dimension to the dish.  As an FYI the side portions are really small so don’t order them and plan to share as it’s really only enough for one person.

The dessert was definitely the best part of the experience as they serve up freshly cooked crepes at your table, cooked in citrus juices and spirits, accompanied with vanilla ice cream that is melting into the sauces by the second.  Heavenly.

ON MY PLATE

Saint-Jacques poêlées
Seared Scallops, Brown Shrimp, braised Leek and Crustacean Sauce
AED 90

Margret de Canard Soulard
Slow cooked Soulard Duck Breast, Morel Mushrooms, Parsnip Fondant, Puy Lentil, Carrot Emulsion and Aigre Douce Sauce.

I enjoyed my evening with one of my best pals and for a girl-date catch-up, this venue was perfect.  The tables are quite close together and have a cafe feel so I wouldn't suggest BA for a romantic date, or if you do, I would request a booth when you make your reservation to give you more privacy.

Our dinner that evening was complimentary as a part of Jumirah’s Sirius loyalty card scheme.  If you save up enough points you can choose three items from the menu (absolutely anything) and all you need to pay for is your beverages.
