As I write this blog post I am sitting in Jamie's Italian feeling very lethargic and self indulgent after consuming double-rounds of carbs. I love the setting here. It is very urban, very chilled, but yet has a premium feeling with the high spec features such as the huge rustic chandeliers that dominate the room. The metal chairs, retro glasses, stainless steal tables and rippled windows are very reminisent of a 1980s England with a revolutionary modern twist.
I ordered the Wild Mushroom & Smoked Mozzarella Risotto (AED59) described as a 'acquerello rice with beautiful wild mushroom and oozy smoked mozzarella'. It was served within fifteen minutes of ordering which was impressive (or questionable) and was presented as expected, as though thought had gone into every placement of the mushroom and cress that garnished the centre of the bowl. It was tasty, the rice was cooked perfectly, the sauce a little thinner than expected, and overall a pleasurable casual dining experience made better with the lovely, welcoming staff.
Strategically placed next to Mahiki, this is definitely going to be hot spot for birthdays and celebrations for the Dubai party scene. For me, this is going down as my go-to place for a comfort-lunch when I want to escape the city and pump out some work.
Ideal for: lunch or a casual dinner and wine with friends
Location: Jumeirah Beach Hotel
Cuisine: Italian - as if you hadn't guessed already
Atmosphere: chilled, friendly
Dress: Casual, although Mahiki is next door so maybe a little more dressy for late night owls.
Bill: 100Dhs per head (non alcoholic)
I am very new to this independent eating thing but am loving how productive I can be when dining alone. I managed to get two blog posts written during lunch (this being one of them) and I have an outfit post to share with you next… see you tomorrow.
