Admittedly my favourite event of the season, Reiss launch their autumn/winter 14 collection at the extravagant Atelier M at Pier 7 in Dubai Marina. The chic soiree showcased the key items for the season ahead for women and for men along with the must have accessories to complete the look. In this post are the outfit details of what I wore for the event and a preview of the new season lines ahead of the fash-pack.
I was dressed in Winnie dress, a navy blue pleated maxi that retails at AED1,549. Navy is such a traditional colour that seems to be revived every couple of seasons because it's such a smart, sophisticated shade that opens up the possibilities of colour matching. I accompanied my Winnie dress with a peachy pair of Manolo Blahniks and gold accessories. Blue and orange are complimentary colours on the colour chart (according to Emma, my interior designer friend) and this is so true. You can mix and match the different shades of these colours and together they really enhance a look.
James Spreckly, Crearive Director at Reiss, is heavily influenced by cinematography and this was evident in his AW14 collection which was reminiscent of film noir. The key trends that are coming through this season was volume through fabrics and glamorous detailing so you will see lots of cocoon shape coats, pleated skirting and feather embellishments. The collection was an evolvement from Reiss' classic yet individual design and the AW range was the strongest product selection I have ever seen from the brand. Key pieces to look out for are the Stone leather chain dress in navy and the luxury Minelli shearling leather coat which will be expected in stores around December, a high ticket item that will retail in the region of AED7,000.
