One week today before I travel home to the UK for Christmas (yay!) and before we hit the crazyness of the holiday season, we decided to escape to one of my favourite Emirates, Ras Al Khaimah for a weekend of relaxation at The Hilton Hotel.
A weekend of live music, yachting, amazing friends, too much cheese and way too much champers, not forgetting the racing, of course it's the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. I was lucky enough to be invited on board our beautiful friends boat, to enjoy the Formula 1 weekend and here are my pictures from the Marina.
This weekend I scored mega good-girlfriend points as I took the Mr.
along to attend the Premier Night of the James Bond film, Spectre, where
Aston Martin showcased their featured cars and entertained us for a
night at the movies.
Vida Down Town picnic style brunch has been on my To-Do list since it opened last year, although I only actually got round to brunching here last weekend when I had friends in town. Everything I hate about a brunch, the anti-social set up, the entire staff of emirates airline (sorry girls) and the drunken messy environment are all left at Saffron, which leaves Vida as a tranquil escape where you can indulge in the sun all afternoon.
I love picking up a great style steal in the sales, guilty as charged! I particularly like going to New Look to replen my basics and go-to-weekend dresses. I picked this halter neck cotton dress up in their branch in the Oasis Centre for AED50 (I know, free huh?) and the elastic empire line makes it a really comfortable to wear. Perfect for those hangover days when you are up at 7am to take little Marley for a walk.
You may recognize this Reiss jumpsuit (she's called Flo) as I bought the first edition of the style in AW14 see post here. This version is a move on from the first design, with the fabric in the legs slightly cropped and the sleeves taken shorter. The deep plum isn't a colour I'd usually feel, but it turns out to be more versatile than I thought. As mentioned previously in my first blog post, this design is only available in Dubai (you cannot even buy it online!) so as soon as it lands instore its sells out quickly.
This event was the AW15 Fash Launch in Dubai, debuting the new season collection for the brands New Look, Reiss, Lipsy, Koton and Yours. Read on to see the pics of the pieces I loved and a mini preview of what's in store for Fall…
In a conscious effort to try and stay as healthy as possible, I wanted to experiment with this Chia Seed I've been hearing so much about. Another super food that has been added to the list, which is a great source of fibre and packed with antioxidant (aka natures botox because it is anti aging). Despite their tiny size, they are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet.
A well deserved break took me to Cyprus to spend a week with the family, indulging in lots of fresh salads, with beefy tomatoes, salty fried halloumi, olives the size of plumbs and needless to say cravats full of the regions organic wine.
This is such a blurry picture and I shouldn't really blame my photpgrapher (aka Mum) but I will. And maybe I shouldn't of posted, but I did! I wanted to show you this outfit combo I'm loving at the moment, it's so simple but nice and summery and easy to wear. Outfit details here...
I finally got my hands on a pair of Topshop Kingdom flats (they've been sold out in Dubai for quite some time) yay me! They've been on my shopping list forever as they look exactly like the Aquazzuraflats, which all the fashion instagrammers seem to be rocking at the moment. Although, at a whopping $695 a pair, my Topshop version will do me just fine.
I've just returned from the beautiful city of Istanbul with Emarati vlog-sensation Taim Alfalasi, where we spent time with the Turkish fashion label Koton at their head office. I decided to do a little vlogging of my own, so check out my pics and you can watch my video on YouTUbe here.
MBC star and first Arabic celebrity to embark upon a fash-collaboration with Lipsy London, Mariam Said launches the Eid 2015 collection in the beautiful setting of VOI at Zabeel Sarray. Now, although this was Mariam's debut, I cheekily wore a Michelle Keegan dress (also endorsed by Lipsy) and you can see what I wore and the bts snaps here.
A delectable French Brasseries called La Residence, has
recently opened at one of Dubai's oldest, but no less prestigious
hotels, Raffles - I went along to try the new venue out and reminisce
about going back to Paris. Ooh la la!
One of my favourite breakfasts, poached eggs in a rich tomato spicy medley, with goats cheese crumbled on top. So, I was absolutely delighted when I was invited to a bloggers brunch at the Pantry, when a dish of Shakshuka arrived at my table.
Reiss hosted a Gentlemen's evening at one of my favourite restaurants, Gaucho
in DIFC, where I had the opportunity to sample the finer cut at their
Steak Master Class by Executive Chef, Jamie Robertson. I made like a
matador and skipped along is this red ruffle dress called Odessa.
Spring has sprung and summer is threatening, so I am embracing jumpsuits and baggy pants while it is still cool enough to wear them. I'm also really feeling grey prints at the moment, who knew the colour could be so versatile? And this jumpsuit, with a splash of lime gives a juicy lift to a tailored piece.
If you're a reader of the glossy mags, make sure you pick up this weeks copy of Grazia to see my piece on natural looking make-up. See how I played that down just then trying to be all cool about that? When in fact I am double excited to have my blog featured and still have the copy sitting on my desk. Wahoo! Anyway, here's the details on how I try to achieve that 'make-up no make-up' look on the morning boat race.
This week I've been making friends with the girl's at The Luxury Closet, an online portal for previously owned haute couture fashion. They invited me into their offices to style some looks for their blog, where I fell in love with this Chanel beauty.
The China Grill brunch was on the agenda today and my Reiss Lucia dress came out to play.Having recently turned thirty, Lucia is now my perfect LBD.The
qualities of ‘My Perfect LBD’ have evolved over the last five to ten
years. Where figure hugging and sexy (and to be honest, short!) use to
be top priority that has now developed into sophisticated and classy,
well at least I try, and Lucia delivers just that.
A re-purchase of Chanel's Rouge Allure lipstick called for a #MOTD review.
I'm finding it quite
distracting writing this post under a very large picture of my
face, although I'm not here to talk about that so instead, let me give
you the details of my perfect shade of red. I
love a red lipstick to add a little glam to a somewhat simple outfit,
however finding the perfect shade is very difficult. Pillar box red is a
gorgeous colour but you have to have the right skin tone, and lets be
honest, very white teeth to carry it off. And sometimes red-glosses can
look cheap if you are not in the right setting or light.
A very unintentional MAC haul (seriously) occurred
on Saturday, I should have known better and just sent the boyfriend in to
replen my make up bag with a shopping list, but as predicted I walked away with
some new goodies to experiment with. Not that I am too upset.
#OOTD a khaki combo from New Look. You may not be able to see in the picture but
it’s actually a skirt and jumper. As separates, these pieces were nothing
great, but together… I loved the look. A
little bit like gin and tonic I guess? Alone,
neither drink really works for me but together they make the perfect pair.
Today's look: leggings and a baggy tee, no new outfit revolution here but the perfect combo for comfort and style. I picked this t-shirt up in River Island last week as I just fell in love with the fabric. It's actually silk but has a seude-like finish and the gun metal grey colour is just edible.
I was on a car journey home with the lovely Katie Fielder the other morning, driving back from a photoshoot the day it poured down with rain. We were reminiscing about our favourite fashion moments, purchases and events (as well as the ones we'd rather forget) and got onto the topic of wardrobe clear outs. Unless you are lucky enough to have a huge walk-in wardrobe (sigh) I decided to write a post on my closet spring-cleaning strategy for you to read and hopefully hear about yours.
The perfume I have been wearing for the last year has been the
iconic Chanel No5, the world wide best seller, but I have
recently decided it was more of a mature fragrance and wanted a change. And when I say ‘mature’ I’m not quite sure
what age lane I mean; having just turned 30 do I now count as mature? Maybe I
am in denial and giving myself another decade to grow up – either way I will be
revisiting this fragrance later in life and will probably gift my mum a bottle next
This weekend I celebrated my last night in my twenties as I welcomed in a new decade of my life, the dirty thirties and from what I've heard, my thirties are going to be great! I decided that I wanted an alfresco style party for my birthday, which seemed ideal since we still have lovely weather in Dubai - and being a January baby I was excited by the fact that I could actually have a barbeque to celebrate!
Bonjour! comment allez-vous? Je viens de rentrer à la
maison à partir d'un merveilleux voyage à Paris et je serais ravi de partager
mes photos avec vous… Okay enough
with the French (which I googled) - having just returned from a
wonderful trip in Paris I wanted to do a blog post and share my photos of the
beautiful city. I'm sure many of you are very familiar with 'Pari' but
this was my first visit and I'm eager to return already.
