Lucia Black Reiss Dress

The China Grill brunch was on the agenda today and my Reiss Lucia dress came out to play. Having recently turned thirty, Lucia is now my perfect LBD. The qualities of ‘My Perfect LBD’ have evolved over the last five to ten years. Where figure hugging and sexy (and to be honest, short!) use to be top priority that has now developed into sophisticated and classy, well at least I try, and Lucia delivers just that.

The double layer of fabric creates a top and skirt effect and has a laser cut out mosaic, tiled along the hem. Although it is very fitted around your torso, the waistline and skirting is very forgiving and is a really cool piece to wear now that the summer heat is beginning to kick in. A very simple look which is both wearable and feminine.

A mass blogger call-out was launched, where media and socialistas were invited to dine and review the new Toy brunch at The Westin.  Free sushi? Err yes please!

What I really liked about this brunch, is that it was a dine-at-your-table style, which may seem obvious but what I mean by this is the waiter brings all of the food to you and keeps replenishing your plate through out the course of the day. It keeps your brunch more social, so you can utilize your 3hours catching up and drinking the free flowing Prosecco with friends.

The ambiance is dark and sultry, with deep red, velvet curtains and black polished furniture, gold oriental embellishments mixed with old school retro toys. Yes you read that correctly.  Old school toys.  Hungry hippos, Connect 4, Jenga… It was like China Whites meets Toys R us. Still, the concept was unique and it is always good to see a venue bring something new to the Dubai social scene.  And individual it certainly was.

The food on offer was flavorsome, fresh sushi and bouncy pockets of Dim Sum, although a little light on the number of options available.  It could well have been a sample menu we were trying that day (being a freebie an all) because if I was paying the full wack of AED490 per head… I would have left feeling a little dissatisfied.
