The Banyan Tree, Al Wadi

This weekend we discovered a little piece of paradise, hidden away in the desert, also known as The Banyan Tree Al Wadi.  The Al Wadi resort is the perfect place to plan a staycation and feel like you have flown a million miles away.

The resort comprises of stand alone villas, which are pure luxury, resembling a Asian themed tented-cabin.  The desert sand banks are surrounding around your villa so you are left completely secluded in the privacy for your entire stay. The room really does have that wow factor, I have always said the The Chedi in Muscat was the most amazing place I have ever stayed, and I was ultimately surprised - the Banyan Tree topped that with its tasteful and deluxe interior.

The hotel has other facilities as you would expect, including restaurants, lounges, spa and activity centre.  We were in devine bliss staying hidden away in our villa. Although the restaurants are award winning we chose to pack up some wine and cheese and enjoy the tranquility and views of our own little world. We did venture out to the Moon Bar for some delicious cocktails at sunset.  The romance of the sun setting over the sand dunes is very special indeed.

The second day we got up and decided to be productive, we walked the desert to enjoy the free roaming animals and also managed to fit in some archery too (next post). The best way to explain the resort would be 'Centre-Parcs UberDeluxe', which really does not do it justice but it may help you invision the set up. Your mode of transport is a charming little bicycle (with a basket!) and you can sign up to any of the activities that you would like to, which were all inclusive.
